Martial arts are a way of life and its teachings are numerous, such as: Fitness - Karate classes are a great workout focusing on your core stability and hand/foot/eye coordination.
Improved Concentration - Karate is 90% mental, 10% physical. Learn how to focus your energy and develop mental discipline through karate training.
Self-Defence - Empowerment through the knowledge of how to defend yourself. Improved Overall Health - Karate benefits young and old due to its emphasis on fitness, stretching, strengthening & endurance.
Weapon Training – Toshikai’s karate classes include training with the Bo, Sai and Tonfa. We also work with the Jo, Knife and Arnis when there’s interest!
Classes are held in a formal and friendly atmosphere which incorporates the history and tradition of the martial arts. Classes are based on 4 or 8 week themes that include the study of kobudo (traditional weapons), kata (sequence of movements), kumite (sparring), grappling, mental conditioning, agility, and physical training.
Classes are held Sunday evenings at 6:00pm at N1 Thai Boxing Academy and Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm at Woodroffe United Church.
